Gaining Understanding and Consciously Navigating the Future

 

The science of futures is applicable to all facets of human life. Individuals, businesses, governments, and the world as a whole are woefully unprepared for the rapidly changing reality that we will face in the future. To gain a measure of control, an understanding of the future--both what we can expect in the near term, and how we can navigate through it successfully in the long run--is vital. Futures Canada's mission is to bring an education in this field, a field which is in itself becoming far more vital every day as social and global systems break down, to the forefront of human practice.

With a mixture of passion, curiosity, fear and hope, Futures Canada's goal is primarily to stimulate a revolution in social organization and thought. We do not specialize in one aspect of futurism. Futurism is a science of complex systems analysis as much as trend analysis and statistics, extrapolation and technology. Too many organizations, such as businesses and governments, approach futurism with a narrow vision in an attempt to simplify it. The result is an inability to deal with unpredictability.

Individual Services
The Instant Futurist	An introductory package to teaching yourself the basics of futurism without having to invest a great deal of time.
Personal Mentoring	An in-depth, personalized mentorship directed by Bob Stewart. Students gain expertise in  Futures Science while also gaining instant expertise in the field of their choice. Complex systems, networking, implementation, leadership, information and technology skills. Very personally focused, flexible, futures-oriented education as it should be practiced in educational institutions. Light-years ahead of private and even secondary schooling, at a fraction of the cost. As a mentorship program, it is not accredited or recognized by conventional institutions.   In this program, students drive the pace of their own development. The mentor's function is relative to the needs of the student, but will always work to maximize the speed of the student's development. It is internet based, though the mentor will make himself available for travel for in-person tutoring at reduced rates.   Students are networked, and the academic environment functions as an active community of scholars. In futures studies, all fields are interrelated and serve complex functions. As the students develop and gain expertise in their fields of choice, education branches out into related fields and provides a broad education relevant to the complexity of their primary field of study.
